Program Descriptions
Camp Becket for Boys and Chimney Corners Camp for Girls are our two resident camp programs.
We offer a specific gender camp experience to campers finishing 2nd – 9th grade (ages 7-16).
Campers stay for 4-week sessions although our youngest campers (finishing 2nd – 3rd) may opt for a 2-week starter program session.
Campers attend the camp that best reflects their identity, and we support campers and staff members in the full spectrum of their identity expression while providing space that celebrates a specific gender.
This aspect of our program should be considered when applying and staff should choose the program that best reflects their identity.
About the job… As an Ad Staff member, your primary role is providing training, guidance and support to leaders in our programs and to taking responsibility for the overall success of our program.
As a member of the Ad Staff you will: Ensure that all staff and leaders understand the mission and values of our program and that all activities reflect those values.
Train leaders in all aspects of their jobs.
Help staff who need extra support in the training process.
Supervise and support your team to help them be effective in their jobs.
Communicate with staff so they understand what is expected of them.
Keep your team apprised of important benchmarks and events Communicate important information with families and the community.
Ensure that all parent questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
Communicate with your supervisor to ensure they are aware of any issues that arise.
Work with other members of the Ad Staff team to provide a high-quality program.
Work with the Ad Staff team Play a key leadership role in emergency drills and in the event of an emergency, carry out the emergency plans.
Help ensure that camp stays clean and well cared for and ensure all members of the camp community pitch in on chores and duties.
Working at camp requires every staff member to cultivate a positive attitude and willingness to help in all areas of the camp experience.
Ensure all staff are scheduled for appropriate levels of time off and ensure that activities are covered.
Benefits: Housing and meals are provided on-site at no cost to the employee as part of the experience.
(Many staff find that they save a lot of money working at camp since a lot of expenses are covered by camp.
) Gain valuable leadership and management skills that will help prepare you for future career opportunities and will reflect valuable work experience on your resume.
Becket-Chimney Corners is located in the heart of the Berkshires, which is internationally acclaimed for its arts and cultural venues.
Planned staff outings are available for staff time off.
Camp provides transportation to local towns and cultural experiences for staff who do not have their own vehicle.
Work with other young adults from all over the US and from abroad.
Many staff make lifelong connections working at camp.
Access to a large network of camp alumni who can support you as resources for internships and career development.
Qualifications: Prior experience and success as a staff member at BCCYMCA or in another camp setting required.
Prior experience supervising staff is a plus.
Must be able to provide proof of a physical within the last 18 months and proof that you are up to date on all required immunizations.
Requires a full summer commitment.

General Working Conditions Ability to work in excess of a 40-hour week with irregular work hours.
Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.

Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
Ability to work in an environment where smoking, vaping and tobacco use are not allowed and where the possession and/or use of alcohol or recreational marijuana, even if staff is of legal age, on the camp property is prohibited.
