The budget Technics SL-BD21 outperforms comparable entry-level decks.
All automatic functions works as they should.
I installed a brand-new belt.
Unlike many units, the lid is NOT broken, so you can lift it and it stays raised as you change records.
It lacks the original ground wire but a replacement ground wire has been soldered to the appropriate jack, so the deck can be grounded as it should to your receiver or preamp.
The original cartridge stylus is intact and sounds fine, but it would likely sound better with an Audio Technica replacement stylus, which run about $30 on Amazon, with cheaper aftermarket versions available at LP Gear or on Ebay, or else spring for a different P-mount cartridge.
That said, the stylus is not broken or bent and plays fine.
The cosmetics are very good, with general wear and tear but no major damage.
If you like the classic brushed aluminum aesthetics, this model does the trick.
In sum, not a top-of-the-line Technics, but it is still a quality unit in good working order, and
I've seen these models go for bigger bucks online, so I think the price is reasonable.
