The Relationship Manager builds and maintains a working relationship between the business operations partners and information technology.
The RM provides guidance and advice, building rapport, and trust.
The RM provides quick responses to inquiries and performs research and analysis as asked working on behalf of both groups.
The role of the Relationship Manager is critical to ensuring alignment and understanding is achieved.
This role is an extension of the CIO/IT Organization, acting as liaison and bridges and facilitates communication and understanding between the business and IT.
The RM is responsible for understanding the overarching business model as well as the intricacies and nuances of the business areas.
The RM has Healthcare experience and knowledge and can speak in terms understood by the business and IT.
The RM equally has technical knowledge and ability and can be the translating partner between parties.
Responsible
Helps develop business cases that effectively illustrate the value of the project.
Helps with prioritization of the solution requested and might recommend that the project be broken into smaller deliverable phases to achieve quicker value to market and business use and important feedback
The RM works also to ensure that the projects align with the technology that best provides maximum return on investment and helps directs IT strategy in support of the overall business goals.
RM may sponsor demo sessions with the Operations area to give frequent and periodic demoes of coming functionality – showing UI/UX designs and prototypes, sample report / screen layouts, demo partially working code.
After a project is delivered, the RM will be involved in the Release Notes, Product showcase, Education of users and rollout.
Conducts satisfaction survey and a readout to management on the project’s overall success.
This includes a demonstration of Cost / Benefit predictions and the actual predicted value.
The RM would sponsor a Release or Phase 2 of the project to adjust functionality to achieve complete satisfaction.
The Relationship Manager is an advocate of workflow efficiency who looks for ways to streamline processes that are not working smoothly or efficiently
Relationship Manager will review business requests and provide analysis on potential different solutions.
Ensure standard operations are running effectively and these reports or measures would highlight and prevent “negative outcomes”.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in IT or Related fields.
5+ years of experience as a PM, BA or SA or Scrum Master.
Expert at Excel
PMP or Safe Agile certification as an Agilist.
Has worked in a:
Software Firm – in Customer Service or a large firm’s L1/L2 support organization.
Has been “on the front-line” to deliver results.
Has worked at a consulting firm or in a consulting capacity.
Understands the SDLC.
Ability to build a project roadmap or portfolio.
