Job Summary:
Under minimal direction, the Production Manager leads and manages operations related to production.
They are responsible for ensuring that operations are done safely, and all manufacturing and quality standards are met.
They also have a responsibility to meet budgeted operation and sales targets in accordance with company expectations.
This position ensures that work schedules, staffing requirements, and production activities maximize productivity and efficiency.
The Production Manager facilitates maintenance, quality, and engineering services to meet business objectives.
In this role, the manager facilitates and leads continuous improvement projects to meet KPI initiatives.
This position reports directly to the Plant Operations Leader and communicates regularly on the status of current production and future projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Assists the Plant Operations Leader in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives affecting their assigned area
Provides leadership, support, and guidance to employees and ensures the goals and objectives of the organization are met
Communicates the status of production performance, projects, and initiatives across the business
Achieves optimum team performance impacting safety, quality, delivery, cost, and development
Takes initiative to improve the manufacturing facility and establishes procedures for maintaining high operation standards, ensuring products conform to established customer and company quality regulations and guidelines
Implements manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization to improve its competitive position and profitability in the market
Oversees the performance of production employees
Partners closely with other department leaders (Human Resources, Finance, Engineering, etc.
) to drive effective plant operations
Initiates and coordinates major projects, (e.
g.
, plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.
)
Stays current on technology and leading manufacturing practices
Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Education & Skillsets:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
5 years of leadership/supervisory experience or sufficient and relevant work experience
Preferred Education & Skillsets:
4 years’ experience in the plastic or chemical industry
3 years of leadership/supervisory experience of medium to large teams
Knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean training
Leadership experience within manufacturing facilities
Relevant master’s degree or equivalent work experience
