PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
The design engineer is responsible for design conception, development, analysis, testing, and creation of the technical data package for new firearm products for production.
The design engineer will support product line extensions and design improvements for performance and cost to existing products.
The design engineer is responsible for technical guidance and support for all functional business areas.
The design engineer will support the business through engineering by providing innovative products that are strategic to the business and deliver the performance expected by our customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
B.
S.
in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
3-5 years firearms design experience
Proficient in SolidWorks modeling, industry standard drawing practices, and skilled in the application of GD&T.
Strong understanding of typical manufacturing processes related to firearms; coatings, machining, injection molding, MIM, castings, extrusions, etc.
Understanding and application of engineering analysis tools such as FMEA, DFMA, FEA, mechanical, and tolerancing
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to organize and manage time efficiently; self-starter, self-motivated, and multi-task orientated
Strong verbal and written communication skills, good presentation and interpersonal skills
Assist engineers, provide direction, and/or lead engineering projects with varying degrees of complexity in support of department and strategic business goals, the Product Development Process and customers
Interact with Product Management, Project Management, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain and external customers for design, development, project support, and technical support
Responsible for conception of new ideas, product development, and qualification from market definition to production release
Support qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved designs
Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
Direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication, industrialization efforts, and initial production ramps
Provide all documentation in accordance with department standards and the Product Development Process
Provide all required documentation including, but not limited to, solid models, drawings, product specifications, test plans, test reports, and project updates
Improve, and revise product designs; initiate, document and coordinate changes across the business
Act in compliance with industry and company technical requirements, standards, policies, and procedures
Assist with strategic department goals and projects, and drive continuous improvement efforts within the engineering department
Develop bills of materials, routings, and engineering specifications
